    Pure unadulterated wit

In brief, The film follows the goings on of Nick Naylor, the spin doctor of big tobbaco as he argues and debates with anti smoking politicians and activists.

    sounds dull right? wrong!

From the get go this film will captivate you and hold you undivided attention with its extraordinary wit and intellegent humour as a man of very flexible morals, teaches his son the art of argument and all without a single cast member smoking a ciggerette. Genius!

On the of chance that I need any more reitteration- watch this film, watch it right now!

92 minutes of pure torture. One of the worst movies i've ever watched. So boring I can't remember anything from the movie 1 week on.

    Smart & funny

I saw this on a plane and thoroughly enjoyed it. NO WAY is this supposed to be a 'cautionary tale about the dangers of smoking' - more a sideswipe at the morals of big business in general (guns, alcohol, er mobile phones). There aren't that many of us who 'pays the mortgage' in an entirely ethical way.

Add this now - Its not about smoking!

Thats right this film has nothing to do with smoking. If you like quirky, dark comedies (like me) you'll love this film.

The story centres around Nick Naylor, a PR rep for a tobacco conglomerate (Eckhart) and how he charms all around him into believing the 'good' intentions of the companies he represents.

Aaron Eckhart is simply brilliant in this role. Believe me Nick Naylor could sell Christmas to turkeys. The script cleverly explores how powerful media spin is in moulding public opinion and how political correctness prevents us from questioning it.

Anyway, enough preaching. Watch it and decide for yourselves.

    Instantly forgettable.

Amusing take on the tobacco industry and P.R. people. Witty and well-acted, it is nevertheless one of those films that fail to leave any lasting impression. I only saw it a week ago and I'm already having trouble remembering it.

~ No, no. Thank you! =]

An intelligent, dark, witty insight in to an otherwise un-touched subject matter. Excellent film. Go rent it now!

    Witty Satire

I'd love to write a long rambling review of the movie, but it'd really be stretching it. Thank You For Smoking is a witty and satirical look at the opposing forces of smoking in the US, the movie focuses on the life of the vice chairman of the body who provide the pro-smoking lobby.

As well as being the Vice-Chairman (or perhaps because of it) he is the chief spokesman, 'the sultan of spin' and we follow a weeks in his life as he attends various meetings that all have one goal; keep them smoking.

Try as you might to hate him you can't help but feel sympathetic for his cause as you, with the American Public, find yourself won over by his charm.

Its funny, its clever and its quite thought proking.

Not as clever as it thinks it is

A film where the star studded cast is its downfall. None of the characters are drawn with anything approximating warmth or interest: the film becomes a string of star cameos in a self-important and ultimately soulless crack at an easy target. As each star appears in their walk on part, you can just feel the smugness radiating off their gurning faces. Tedious.

    You got to see it.

Very funny adaptation of a morally tainted individual that has to deal with unacceptance by the general public in an attempt to pay his mortgage and win the effection of his seperated son.
