Classy......beware of leeches ?
By roncoach (369 reviews) from suffolk , 13 Feb 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Just in time before the Golden Age disappeared forever, this film is that cliche called a CLASSIC. It's superb, a must-see, featuring 2 of the greatest stars who ever graced the Big Screen.
All technical departments are superb, especially script ( only weaknesses : colour not great ; and some 'real' scenes of Africa don't quite 'fit in'------but churlish to mention such trivia in this great film).
Timeless. The wonder of Bogie......oh for stars like him in the modern era ( and pigs might fly !).
A MUST-SEE. PS : the reference to leeches is what we call 'cryptic' LOL----see film to discover my comment :))))- Was this review helpful to you?

Excellent character led drama
By odellju (54 reviews) from London , 12 Sep 2011It's not until about three quarters of the way into the film that you realise you have been watching two people on a boat drifting down a river and yet it is mesmerising. Wonderful acting with subtle character development resulting in emotional support for the protagonists. There are enough challenges along the way to keep the story interesting, the trek through the reeds is a reminder of the human desire to live. I would highly recommend for easy Sunday evening watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

queen boat, kingly couple
By lukasz84 (75 reviews) , 23 Apr 2011An innocent, colourful and joyous adventure. Sixty years of age, and still shooting some good torpedoes. The acting is the finest, and the strongest. Hepburn and Borgart have such timeless charm and humour. It is an absolute privilege to watch. In glorious technicolour, shot partly on set in Africa, this is a thoroughly accomplished undertaking. Bursting with life and invigorating the senses, it certainly boasts some regal, superfine qualities. And whatever might go wrong, Hepburn and Bogart are quick to repair, and get the boat sailing again. One cannot bear the smallest grudge against such lovely couple.- Was this review helpful to you?

African queen - a Classic...
By bossmanbing (35 reviews) from Newton-le-Willows , 14 Oct 2010A timeless classic.
Despite its age it is a fantastic, well scripted film.
Hepburn and Bogart are a perfect combination and the chemistry is perfect.
A unique film - I can understand why this film has stood the test of time.- Was this review helpful to you?
