A very well told story about human emotions!
By crockery (137 reviews) from Belfast , 29 Jun 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
First of all, this film did have problems. There were a lot of flaws, and some of the coincidences seemed stupid and irrelevant, but it does not fail to show emotion. The emotions are all scattered. Not just one person can have one, and I think that is the point of the film. My first time seeing it, i thought it was just a GOOD film. After seeing it over three times, i can really say it is a very great film. The Acting is phenomenal, and Sarah Michelle Gellar gives her best performance to date. She really shows what she is capable of. She portrays the right signs of Sorrow. Andy Garcia was also great. The direction, from a first time director, was really amazing. The were a lot of beautiful scenes, great cinematography. It is a pleasure to watch. Some of the songs played, are kinda cheesy, but those songs go away fast. BUT the score is truly amazing. It totally captures the right feel that the film portrayed. The film should have been longer. It was only 90 minutes, it was very fast paced. They should have shown more screen time with Gellar and Bacon. The rushed feeling has a positive side to it. The film never gets boring. It grabs you completely(and for some people, that is what they want). Yes, the biggest problem is the screenplay, which at times seems silly, some of the dialogue, but the film also has powerful moments and some GREAT dialogue(sort of like the 2004 film Crash). Overall, I have fallen in love with it. It is very underrated, and some of the negative feedback it has received is not worth it. See it, expect flaws, but see it expecting something big, something about human complexity, and you will not be disappointed- Was this review helpful to you?

(100)One of those films
By NESlami (18 reviews) from Leeds , 08 Jan 2013This is one of those films that you keep saying you will watch, but never get round too. Tip, watch it. The only things wrong with this film were it was slightly too short a few parts could have been fleshed out a bit more and one of the plot links was a little too stretched and seemed too much like 'plot device'. Having said this everything else was excellent, dialogue, story, characters, filming and casting. I cannot really pick a standout performance as they are all great. Thoroughly recommend this.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not bad. Amazing cast.
By a customer , 23 Jan 2012A good story. An incredible cast. Yet this film did not live up to its expectations. I thought the plot got a bit lost along the film. Still give it ago. It's a different film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Truly deserving to be watched!
By a customer , 15 Dec 2011I cannot believe I had not seen this movie because of the mediocre reviews I read. And that is because it touched me so deeply! Worth seeing- Was this review helpful to you?

Didn't make me want to inhale
By a customer , 18 Aug 2011I really do persevere with books and films that don't grab me from the start. Part 1 isn't long, but after less than 20 minutes of this dreary, darkly lit, gloomy scene, with absolutely nothing and no-one to identify with or have any empathy with, I felt an overwhelming urge to do something hugely more engaging and worthwhile - like scrubbing the oven, or picking fluff out of the inner recesses of the tumble dryer.- Was this review helpful to you?
