Andrew Garfield breathes new life into this comic-book franchise, but it's still an overly familiar story.

Superior to the other Spiderman films
By tez4444 (1 review) from Farnborough , 04 Jul 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
I think this reboot is far superior to the Sam Raimi take on Spiderman. For one thing Andrew Garfield IS spiderman. Its how Spiderman is in the comics. The sarcasm Spiderman has is all there, and although its different in some ways to the canon Spiderman origin its still a really great film. Although not a contender against Avengers or the Dark Knight Rises. Sequels will have greater potential though.
As a fan of the comics the directors should atleast try to keep to the characters. Spiderman without wit isnt Spiderman. I'm so glad they did reboot Spiderman. Why on earth do critics seem to think Sam Raimis take on Spiderman is any good? The films are full of flaws, the chinese girls rendition of spiderman theme anyone? I was hoping that Sam Raimi would capture the fun banter between Venom and Spidey. That proved to be a horrific dissapointment. Tobey Maguire is geek in a suit. No fun banter from the Spiderman we all know and love. Watching the Spiderman films and comparing them to the reboot is just painful.
This is a great film to all those that have lost faith in the Spiderman franchise. Well done Mark Webb! Now lets hope you can be bold enough to implement Carnage as the main villian in a future film. Cos that done right would be on level pegging with Avengers.- Was this review helpful to you?

Pointless remake but worth watching.
By tinfoil (2 reviews) , 14 May 2013Not that bad really. A carbon-copy to a certain extent, of the movies before it - Although I prefer this rebooted version tbh. I'm sure others will do too.- Was this review helpful to you?

ANDRE GARFIELD IS SPIDERMAN
By MCRSEVE (8 reviews) , 09 May 2013Andrew garfield is a brilliant Peter Parker and an even better Spiderman. Personally I thought the earlier Spiderman films were very poor. As a comic book hero, spiderman is a brilliant creation and a film about him should do credit to the comicbook now it does. This was a brilliant film throughly enjoyable and highly recommended- Was this review helpful to you?
