    Great Movie

The Amityville Horror is a great movie that i believe every fan of horror movies should see.

You can feel chills running up and down your spine since the begining of the movie.

The comercials about the movie is great. I recommen for you to watch the movie at night it will seriously make you jump.

    Edge of your seat thriller/horror

What a great film! Was not expecting anything special - just your run-of-your-mill horror. Oh No! A really spooks movie, very much Jumpy and edge of your seat stuff. So much so practically the entire cinema audience screamed at one particular scene - Not me of course being a bloke...

Storyline is simple - familly move in to a old house - couldn't believe the cheap price - thought they got a bargain. The previous occupants were all murdered by the Man of the house in a rage - children, women, wife, the lot, brutal stuff. Anyway, you get the jist, new man of the house moves in and all seems well at first. Until he begins to think his family are crazy.

original amityville make this look like demon plop!

I like alot of people grew up with the first Amityville film scaring the bejesus out of us throughout our formative years. Remaking it seemed such a brilliant idea and i couldnt wait to relive childhood spills and chills...........Oh dear...........should have known better.

This is a fairly adequate haunted house story but lacking any real scares. the CGI may be great in this film but it doesnt make up for genuine jump out of the seat moments.

A swarm of CGI flies does not cut it as much as the real thing..........................................

    Better than the original

But that isn't saying much since the original was complete poodles.

Creepy in places but utterly forgettable.

AT LAST A REMAKE TO RIVAL THE ORIGINAL

A very edgy and well scarey flick. As a big fan of the original i was well pleased with this remake. Its probably more jumpy than the original and in parts dare i say better. The only downside of the film in my opinion is that it is a little short and lots of the days are just skipped. However dont let this stop you FANTASTIC

    better than the original

i watched it last night on dvd after seeing it in the cinema before...

it looses alot 2nd time coz it relys soo much on cut scares to make you jump, but overall its a really good post 2000 horror movie, excellent for 1st time viewing....

really deserves 4 stars but it didnt scare me compared to the 1st time so im being harsh.

    Leave it alone.....

I cannot understand why Hollywood has to keep re-making classic films. Admittedly the original movie was no great shakes, but this new one takes the 'Based on..' premise to its furthest limits. Plenty of gore, plenty of freakish undead ghouls and a few genuine jumps. However, the original story from the novel has been extended to include story lines that have been made up. For example the scene where the babysitter meets the ghost Jody, or the Indian Killer 'Katchem' storyline - these are not in the book and didn't happen.

Good as a stand alone horror film but take the 'true story' tag with a pinch of salt. Also the actors involved are way off the mark as far as being the original Lutz family - it's a bit like Barbie and a muscle bound Ken have moved into the famous house.

See the film anyway as it is pretty good, but read the book for the (almost) true story.

    What a great shame!!

I was looking forward to this as I am a huge horror fan. What a shame. It had all the ingredients to be a great horror but it tried to hard. It ended up being the unwanted child of Poltergiest 2, The Shining and Amityville 3. The cast were excellent and really gave everything but it was just not scary. I wanted a slow burn to get the tension going but it was lame shock after shock. And the only thing that was based on a true story was the house, even the original murders were wrong! If you have been brought up only on modern, no brainer horrors, then you will enjoy this. If however you want something to make you think and take a second look in spare rooms at night before bed, then give this a miss. Extras on the dvd however were very good.

    Horror At Its Best!

From The Same people that brought us the remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre they now bring an updated version of the scariest story in history..and it does not dissapoint!Barely have you got time to recover from one scary scene before you're treated to another!

    Go see this film!

    FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

I LOVE MY HORROR MOVIES, AND I WAS NEVER A KEEN FAN ON RE-MAKES, BUT I TAKE IT ALL BACK AFTER WATCHING THIS.

UPDATED, SCARY, SPOOKY AND DIDN'T NEED TO USE ALOT OF BLOOD AND GUTS TO DO IT.

    GOOD SEE IT!!
