An excellent and entertaining DVD.
By Elvin Bailey from Glasgow, home of Scottish Opera , 17 Dec 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
This is a most enjoyable disc, full of really top class music, It can be recommended, the first act from La Boheme with Gobbi and Tebaldi must surely be the best ever.
Enjoy this disc I did.

(8)A splendid watch
By a customer from York , 17 Dec 2008Thoroughly enjoyable if over-concise and with inevitable gaps. For someone like myself newly getting into the history of opera, this is aninspiring and educational look at some of the operatic stars of the last 100 years. Easy watching, well-paced, and (to be honest) a bit of light relief after wading through some of the heavier operatic fare over the last few months.- Was this review helpful to you?

I also was disappointed
By Robert Smith from Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. , 03 Jun 2007This consists of mainly snippets from performances of tenors and sopranos from the 20th century. There is the odd bass, baritone and contralto thrown in, but there are many names missing like Kathleen Ferrier. The sound is reaonable for the age of the pieces, but I am not entirely sure there are not comparative voices from the present age, with first class modern sound. However it is worth a look to see some of the stars from the past, and to see how sound has improved in a century.- Was this review helpful to you?

Terrific Singing.
By John Stevenson from Dumfries. , 05 Mar 2007Liked the whole DVD. My favourites were Gigli's 'Handel's Largo' and the lesser known tenor's 'Martha'.
Marvellous all round.- Was this review helpful to you?

Thanks, Elvin!
By Edwin James from Northumberland , 21 Sep 2006Thank you for reminding me of the Tebaldi/Bjorling duet. I've seen it before, but to know that someone else out there appreciates it too made me book this DVD!- Was this review helpful to you?
