One wonders what an actor with the impeccable taste of Johnny Depp was doing accepting the lead in this unconvincing psychological thriller. Playing an astronaut (ludicrously named Spencer Armacost) who starts behaving oddly after an accident in space, Depp brings an undeserved degree of credibility to what is a derivative and unshocking sci-fi rehash of Rosemary's Baby (with a dash of Species II thrown in for bad measure). Charlize Theron reheats her spouse-going-mental role from The Devil's Advocate, a film that at least allowed itself a degree of camp — this is too serious for its own good, and no amount of inventive direction from the debuting Rand Ravich can save it.

Depp looked bored throughout this film. He wasn't alone. He personally thought it was a load of crap. He wasn't alone there either.
