OK, so i'm disappointed that Paddy Considine is finally in a bad movie. He is one of my favourite actors and you can usually bank on anything he puts his name to.

I can only imagine that he and the superb Gary Oldman, really got shafted making this movie. They both try really hard to make this great, but even with both of their considerable talents on show, the movie has no plot.

It does have a tense and claustrophobic atmosphere throughout, which makes you feel that something really terrible or dramatic is always around the corner, but you cannot help but feel cheated when there is none.

I wonder if the tension is because the actors realised once they were out in the middle of nowhere just what a disaster the whole project had become.

It really doesn't help that the two leading females are flat and completely without enthusiasm for their roles. They just come across as moody and spoilt.

It's a shame, because it looks the business. Watch STRAW DOGS, FUNNY GAMES or DELIVERANCE instead.

  • Incredibly disappointing especially considering the cast

Two couples go away to remote Spanish retreat, locals not friendly, issues between couples, find young girl in house, locals want her back. Incredibly disappointing film especially considering the cast, borrowing from Straw Dogs and Deliverance but never getting near the tension of those films. Gary Oldman and Paddy Considine are two of my favourite actors but they’re wasted here with dialogue that seems awkward and the two female actors aren’t much better. I was also sort of expecting a big finale but it just sort of fizzled out at the end.

  • Very Poor

Very Poor, the film was like an old 'B' movie. learn from our mistake (Wife and I) and pass this one by. Don't be fooled by the cast. A very poor film in all areas.

I wasn't expecting too much from this film, Gary Oldman is one of my favourite actors and I'd gladly sit through leagally blonde 4 if he made a 5 minute cameo appearance, however I need not have worried.

This film has a good script, good cinematography, the plot builds tension and the English / Spanish interplay is refreshing and well acted.

Some of the scenes at the beginning of the film reveal motives for the, on first viewing, baffling ending and the film warrants a second viewing whereupon many more subtleties are revealed.

All of the parts are well cast and well acted and if you a lover of well executed films I would recommend this one.

Don't expect a masterpiece but do give it a chance and you may be surprised by what you find.

  • So close yet so, oh so far away

What a fantastic backdrop to this film, Spain well away from the ubiquitous Costa's yet still able to host a dark and brooding feel. This movie had so much potential particularly with Paddy Constantine and Gary Oldman supported by a cast of great spanish character actors in the village, alas, the casting director emptied his/her 12 guage into this films prospects with the choice of female leads - the trees were less wooden than these two. Couple the poor female leads with a somewhat disjointed script and you end up with with a film that promises so much but delivers little more than disappointment. In the end an unrewarding experience.
