The Bank Job, starring Jason Statham, Saffron Burrows and the ever-debonair Peter Bowles, has stolen in at number one in the UK box office chart, according to the latest figures from Nielsen. The film, which was written by the legendary duo behind sitcom classic Porridge and 1991's The Commitments, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, beat Will Ferrell's screwball comedy Semi-Pro into second place. Gambling drama 21 has knocked animated hit Horton Hears A Who! from the top spot at the US box office, according to the latest figures from Nielsen. The film, which stars Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne and Kate Bosworth, is based on the true story of six MIT students who took several Las Vegas casinos to the cleaners after studying card counting techniques.
