Underrated dark erotic thriller
By DominicUK (13 reviews) , 16 Oct 2003[Highly rated reviewer]
This short film is very Japanese and won't be for everyones tastes. An example of 'pink' cinema - characterised by cheaply and quickly shot erotica with dark plots - this film is one of the better examples of the genre. The themes touched on (such as voyeurism via video) seem increasingly relevant in the modern media and it is possible to imagine the events taking actually place. The sex scenes are frequent, as is usually the case for Japanese underground cinema, but in this case they are fairly integral to the plot.- Was this review helpful to you?

(18)Don't give it house room
By Bobsview (549 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 20 Feb 2013Japanese soft porn with sub-titles. Bizarre story of a young wife who visits a fetish house where she takes drugs which send her to sleep, during which she receives the attention of clients who use and abuse her. There are other sub plots but most of the time the white sub titles are against a background of white bed sheets! Weird and very explicit. Rubbish- Was this review helpful to you?

It's like going to the Tate-Modern; either you get it you don't
By Tonoshi (11 reviews) from Cambridge , 02 Jul 2010In our opinion this film was superbly made and addressed a huge problem in post-bubble Japan; Halcion (Triazolam) abuse.
I'm not entirly sure if the director just played it by ear but it seems that way as there's no real story to follow and the ending could have gone any way. But that's pink for you.
You could read into this film and say it's about 'sexual anxiety' or say it's about the filling that deep void in one's life but I think it's just yet another good film showing the reality of 'what's under the surface' of Japanese society.- Was this review helpful to you?

Par for the Japanese course
By Petrosian (19 reviews) from Fleet , 19 Apr 2010Watching a Japanese film is a bit like viewing people on another world some light years away, its all very different, and a bit bizarre. This is a typical slow precise Japanese film with an erotic voyeuristic overtone as per the trailer. The pace is a bit slow, but thats all part of their style. I found it interesting, but this might not be everyones cup of green tea.- Was this review helpful to you?

Bizarre and dark but rewarding
By a customer from London , 18 Sep 2008Intriguing if confusing study of loneliness and alienation with some amazing photography and some powerful scenes (such as the first scene with the naked dead woman wrapped entirely in clingfilm). Although ostensibly an erotic film the feel of the sex scenes is so cold and clinical that you are left depressed rather than aroused and that is all to the good in advancing the complex and slightly ambiguous plot - which is mainly explained in a surprising and interesting ending.- Was this review helpful to you?
