Most helpful review
Ok so it's very 1980's
By Little Black Cat from Shrewsbury, England , 24 Apr 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
I watched this when it was first on the TV and it now seems a bit dated, but it still much better than most rubbish on the TV these days. If you want a very pleasant 3 hours with no silly camera work, no violence, plenty of gentle humour, and some excellent acting with a bit of mystery, try this.- Was this review helpful to you?

(21)There could have been another series
By Tallis45 (6 reviews) from East Yorkshire , 26 Apr 2013Excellent series. I met Alan Plater at a jazz function in Hull some years ago and he told me James Bolam and Barbara Flynn were happy to do another series but the tv company wouldn't spend the money preferring to put on repeats. Shame.- Was this review helpful to you?

Excellent comedy drama
By a customer from LEEDS , 31 Jul 2008This was one of the best comedy drama series of the 80s. Although obviously dated now the comedy and superb acting stands out. Excellent.- Was this review helpful to you?

unparalelled
By a customer from gloucester , 20 Mar 2007Intelligent British comedy at its very very best. Political undertones, stupid policemen, great Jazz score and two very likeable main characters. Brilliant supporting cast. The sort of inspired nonsense you can watch over and over again. Barbara Flynn is the only woman for whom i would leave my wife.- Was this review helpful to you?
