Most helpful review
Don't believe the reviews above!

This is a truly wonderful film. I loved every minutre of it and made my wife watch it. 'One of the best films I have ever seen' she said! Photography is stunning, music is wonderful and the plot, though gentle, is actually quite gripping. Everyone I know who has seen it has loved it. The girls will adore Jean-Marc Barr ('a truly beautiful man') and the boys will love all the diving and the delicious Rosanna Arquette. Rent it NOW!!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

(78)A sea lovers must see!!
By tobes43 (1 review) , 23 Apr 2013The Big Blue by Luc Besson is a classic moving under rated film which must be seen on big screen with surround sound as the immersive world of diving and the sea is second to none. The soundtrack and cinematography are the true winners and Jean Reno is a real character in those days. Jean Marc Barr was excellent but never saw him again. I saw the long version in France 20 years ago and have loved it ever since. The short version is not as good. must be the long version. Even if free diving is not your thing, its still a fascinating film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Wow c'est magnifique!
By zeg (2 reviews) , 20 Mar 2013Such a beautiful film, initially I was taken back by the fact that the film is 163 minutes long... so I planned to watch it over two nights but once I started watching it I couldn't stop! After renting it, I'm now going to have to buy it so I can enjoy it again and again!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Truly wonderful film
By Fe78 (2 reviews) , 05 Jan 2013I first saw this film as a child. My sister bought it after seeing it at the cinema and we used to watch it constantly (the longer version which I presume is the one on dvd). I fell in love with Jean-Marc Barr and it was the first film I saw the fabulous Jean Reno in. The music and scenery are breathtaking and the storyline like no other. This has to be my favourite film of all time and I've never tired of it! It's a definate must see.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good movie, terrible dubbing
By tonymacprods (1 review) , 02 Dec 2012this is a great movie, however the (bluray) version supplied by filmfour is the version where they overdubbed the english dialogue with French. As others have commented this ruins the movie. I believe a later bluray release is available with the non-dubbed dialogue however there doesn't appear to be a way of ensuring you get the non-dubbed version.- Was this review helpful to you?
