Oh dearBy daz2712 from south wales , 17 Jun 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]Well there was I expecting an action comedy with a Hong Kong twist. Well there was a bit of action but no comedy. If you want an Hong Kong action comedy catch one of the shanghai movies, this is definitely one to avoid despite the recognisable cast as the script is rubbish and not enjoyable at all.

Not to be taken seriouslyBy gianino (648 reviews) from London , 20 Jul 2012What I loved about this movie: Mark Wahlberg OMG he is a baby cake, Antonio Sabato Jr not as hot as Marky but still a baby boy, Lainie Kazan, funny amazing actress, Elliott Gould is a cool actor too, Christina Applegate, she is kinda of cool, the plot is weirdly funny and it's perfectly watchable. If you don't take this too seriously you love it; otherwise, it's a crock of pooooo
Watchable - but could have been so much betterBy njg1625 (12 reviews) from London , 16 Sep 2011I'm not surprised by some of the very negative reviews as this film has some pretty terrible acting, script, wire work, hair on Mark W ... ...
BUT if you watch it expecting a straight to video, low budget actioner - it's worth adding to the list !!!
Lower level Wahlberg effortBy Dankfilm (2 reviews) from Belfast , 08 Feb 2011Mark Wahlberg heads up this visually energetic, but badly written actioner. 'The Big Hit' seems determined to be taken as a post-Tarantino slice of hipster cinema, but instead comes across as an irksome and rarely original frenzy of explosions and bad performances. The art direction and set-pieces are solid, but only Wahlberg and Christina Applegate give acceptable turns, the rest of the cast failing to be charming or funny. Not really a career worst for its leading man ('The Happening' is a hard benchmark to beat) but I'd still skip it none the less.
Even Better Second Time RoundBy ryrylewisson (11 reviews) from Essex , 27 Nov 2010Love this film, its witty and just easy watching really. The sexy Mark Wahlburg plays Melvin a sexy, slick hit man who just seems to have people using him all the time. Worth Watching.
Could not watch more than 20 minutesBy a customer from Nottingham , 06 May 2010This was pure trash, not even warranting an explanation from me of why I reach that conclusion. I didn't last 20 minutes before I had to turn it off and find something more interesting to do. The ironing easily won in the category of interest, and narrowly on plot and character development.
