    [Highly rated reviewer]

It is brilliant to watch these and look back at how things once were- things have changed so much in 'The Bill'- and yet it is still such an amazing programme now.

    Well worth a watch.

Excellent series one, if only the police of today were allowed to police this way again, all episodes excellent but disc 4 is played for laughs, OK but !!!!

This series is pretty much as I remembered it. A bit slow by today's standards but of it's time. Solid cop show, and the comedy value from Ted Roche is immense.

I remember this starting back in 1983 and I've never missed an episode. Still the best show on televison and after 20 odd years it was nice to see how it started.

I wasn't too sure what to expect from this - I'd watched the original series way back when and remember the stories being pretty good, but would they stand the test of time?

Recently there was the live episode to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ITV and I read critques of it where the camera work and shadows of microphones were slagged off, and I'm pleased to announce that this *style* is included in these old episodes too!

Thing is though, the sometimes dodgy cameras and studio sets really don't detract from the well written stories at all and the errors soon fade right back into the background where they belong. Well worth a watch for any fan.
