I pierced the toast!By JediSi (301 reviews) from Kent , 22 Sep 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]This has got to be one of the most hilarious movies ever made, next to Waking Ned. Robin Williams is exceptional but of course it is Nathan Lane who runs away with the show as the cross-dressing screaming queen, Albert. Combining family morals with overblown homosexuality and conservatism, the message in this is just as heart-warming as the script is witty and the performances perfect. One highly notable scene is when Armand (Williams) is teaching Albert (Lane) how to act 'like a man'. There are countless other classic scenes that make The Birdcage stand out from all the rest. Absolutely fantastic.

A real feel-good film, no need to take a 'pirin' tablet!By a customer from North Wales , 18 Jun 2012Just sent for this film as I haven't seen it for a while. Must have watched it half a dozen times by now. I'm not usually a Robin Williams fan (too much like Jim Carrey - over-the-top and manic) but his acting in this is restrained and superb. Nathan Lane is a hoot as always, and Hanki Azaria excels as Agador. My husband and I regularly quote lines to each other when the situation demands, eg. 'Can't think where I left the car keys' - 'Chew more gum!' The relationship between Robin Williams and Nathan Lane is hysterical and touching at the same time, in fact everyone in this film is a class act. Hard to choose a favourite moment, but the 'pink socks' scenario, and Agador cleaning the pool to the strains of 'She Works Hard for the Money' are just a few of the gems. Recommended. A great watch if you're feeling down.
So funny and totally addictive ....By a customer , 22 Nov 2011Soooo Funny and could watch it again and again ! ... The first ten minutes I wasn't sure at all - but once it got going it was fantastic.
I loved Nathan Lane's character - again after the first ten minutes - he was totally loveable and funny and a joy to watch - especially the way he played mother to the son !! Brilliant!!
