  • Scary as hell, but weak!!!

    [Highly rated reviewer]

I am a massive fan of psycho! it is one of my favourite films of all time! so this had a lot to live up to! some people will think i am harsh with my review, however, read the rest of them, they all say what i am about to say and then rate it as five stars???!! that makes no sense!

This is a very tense and sinister film which really ratchets up the tension and is very enjoyable on that level! (possibly 3 stars!) however the film is let down by it's ridiculous storyline - i am refering to the woman pursues man to place she's never been to, after speaking once in a bird shop!!! and then it fails to give a rationale as to why the birds are attacking! it doesn't even try. The ending is abysmal after setting the film up for two hours it then leaves it unfinished! this is poor film making, however the tension and scariness of the film really are good! but i was so let down i consider this to be 2 hours wasted!

'The Birds'..... One of the great Hitchcock classics, from the 1960's. Although now a little dated and quite tame, this film never fails to deliver.

Although now dated in its effects, there is something to be said for a film that is almost 50 years old and can still get your heart racing in anticipation.

A negative I have to land on this movie is that its takes an age to get into things, but it was with some serious vendetta when it did.

If you enjoy a good suspense film or are a Hitchcock fan I do recommend a watch, but if you're looking for a blood filled horror this is the wrong place.

another film that will survive for all time.

really creepy and brilliant film. What you have to understand when watching the film tho is that this film was done at a time when there were very little special effects, if you like loads of them then really this film isnt for you

Most of Hitchcock's films seem to survive the passing of time very well but 'Birds' is not one of them. It just looks too clunky now and fails to entertain. It's not believable at all.

  • A pure and simple classic

This is a classic of course, and you can see why. It starts off as some sort of strange comic/love story, and ends up being a disturbing film.

There are so many nice little points in the film that would have made it watchable even without the horrow element. The acting is, in places, refreshingly over the top and hugely entertaining

I loved this film and would certainly recommend anyone to watch it
