The Black Hole

A space crew travelling the cosmos runs into a long-missing craft, manned by Dr. Hans Reinhardt. Upon meeting Reinhardt, the astronauts discover that he is not only insane, but steadfast in his efforts to travel through a nearby "black hole", an abyss from which no one can escape. Matters worsen when Reinhardt holds the crew captive, after realizing that they can help him reach his goal. The squad must now figure out a way to flee from Reinhardt -- before it's too late... This attempt to gain a piece of the 'Star Wars' audience was also Disney's entry into the world of the PG rating. The film, not a huge success in 1979, has since gained a cult following due to its ominous tone and innovative visual design and effects.

      not bad

For Disney movie it is quite adventurous and probably better than Space 1999. Not camp like Buck Rogers, not collosal like Star Wars, and not moody like Alien... read more »

Mad Max nemesis voted favourite movie henchman

    • 05 Mar 2008

Wild eyed, Mohican-sporting biker psycho Wez of Mad Max 2 fame has topped a new poll of favourite movie henchmen. The top ten rundown by movie mag Empire picked out Wez, played by Australian actor Vernon Wells, for being even more bonkers than Mel Gibson's Mad Max - his crowning glory being that "he actually laughs when he gets shot". The biker beat Goldfinger's bowler hat-toting Oddjob - played by former Hawaiian weightlifter Harold Sakata - into second place, with Midnight Run's... Read more
