Brilliant - definitely worth the watch. I didn't find myself bored at all. It could have been a little longer, but i look forward to the next series.- Was this review helpful to you?

(18)the Borgias: Rich in detail, low on moral fibre
By munchkinraves (23 reviews) from London , 14 Mar 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
I love the richness of this production: the sets, costumes and historical details are very good {this coming from an Art historian, no less...]. I cannot find fault with the acting, or the writing- all very good. There is one bit that does not sit well with me: I am 'old school' and like to see at least one 'good guy' in the film. I love the old good v evil stories. This family were, well nasty despite being great patrons of the Arts... This film glamourises these people with very ugly personalities. Maybe this is,alas, a symptom of this day and age?- Was this review helpful to you?

Captivating drama.
By a customer , 05 Mar 2013Absorbing historical drama with a kick. Great acting, beautiful cinematography and locations. Same for series two. Can't wait for the third series.- Was this review helpful to you?

Jeremy Irons was he 1st choice
By leeingrove (22 reviews) from London , 08 Jan 2013This would of been an excellent series really watchable had Jeremy Irons not been cast... What do I mean well the series has an ordinate amount of dialogue and Jeremy Irons voice after a while seems to go straight through me....- Was this review helpful to you?

Sex, violence, murder, intrigue, just how religion should be!
By SiDi (21 reviews) , 19 Dec 2012Sex, violence, murder, intrigue.... they knew how to be a real Catholic in those days. Gorgeous filming and sets, or did I mean sex? I am sure that in this era most people were slightly less photogenic but why should I quibble? Game of Thrones parallels but not in a bad way.- Was this review helpful to you?

Can't wait for the next series
By youngian (8 reviews) , 02 Dec 2012This drama finds its feet very quickly after a rushed beginning which raised fears that Jeremy Irons would be hamming it up as JR Ewing in a robe. Well he sort of does but its a delicously big performance. Other notable perfomances are Michel Muller and Simon McBurney who showed in Rev he can excel as dodgy clerics.- Was this review helpful to you?
