Great to see an action movie without SFX!

Not as good as the first one, but still an exciting, gritty thriller. The new director seems to be striving to put the viewer right in the centre of the action - including one of the loudest car chases you'll ever see. Just like being in the cars with them! However, the close-ups and blurriness of the action is sometimes a little too documentary - exciting, but occasionally confusing.
Matt Damon still looks like a Cabbage Patch Kid, but is excellent as Jason Bourne, a much more believable action hero than James Bond - this guy really bleeds! All the main cast from the first film returns, along with the excellent Joan Allen as the CIA Agent charged with tracking Bourne down.
An exciting, twisty-turny thriller... though it struggles to maintain the tension in the final half hour.- Was this review helpful to you?

Super Bourne

good thriller, keeps you at edge. But at some point it defies logic like Bourne reaches Moscow by train and is able to escape before police reaches there. You have to have a blind faith in Bourne's capabilities while watching this.- Was this review helpful to you?

Doesn't live up to Bourne Identity
By paxtonpat (7 reviews) , 26 Jan 2013I found this didn't live up to the first Bourne film - The Bourne Identity - and it seemed to be a bit sterile in comparison. I also found a lot of the action sequences seemed to be extra choppily-edited, taking this technique a bit too far this time. Also a comment that the movies view of technology and the CIA made me chuckle - as if every CCTV, every airport's passport desk, every train station is all hooked up by magic to the CIA, who have almost instant access to this stuff. Judging by usual technology troubles/incompatibilities/net connection problems, they'd be lucky if the connection to their own CCTV worked.- Was this review helpful to you?

A sequel that does it's job very well
By JayLow (122 reviews) , 06 Feb 2012The Bourne Supremacy does it's job well...it's an excellent sequel (not quite as good as the original, but I think sequels should really know their place), it's fits in nicely with the trilogy and it's a pretty damn good thriller in it's own right.
It does lack the focused story of the original however. There's a lot of Bourne rushing off to a destination for none too obvious reasons and then just happening to bump into bad guys and good guys along he way...who'd have thought Moscow was such a small place...
Also, it does push that plausibility envelope. As apparently realistic as the Bourne thrillers are, the character is superhuman and acts accordingly - the car chase, whilst exciting, would not be out of place in a Fast and Furious Vin Diesel film.
But all quibbles have to be set against the fact that the Bourne films do exactly what any thriller should do. They keep you on the edge of your feet from start to finish.- Was this review helpful to you?
