[Highly rated reviewer]Right since other reviewers on here have not seen The Box my review may seem a little odd.
First off this is nothing like Saw 1-6 (And at various points of boredom I have forced my way through them all). I notice that someone else on here has stated that this is based on a short story from the Twilight Zone; I assume this is correct as all the way through I could not help but think that that is exactly what it feels like (I did not know it was at the time).
The story follows a couple who have been given a small black box by a sinister stranger. They are told that if the button on the box is pressed, they will receive $1 million; but someone, somewhere, who they do not know will die. They press the button and the story explores the consequences of that moral choice.
The Box seems to be following on the vain of last summers Knowing (which I enjoyed), in the recent re-emergence of 1960-70s style 'science fiction light'. I don't want to give much away as like with Knowing its very easy to spoil it for future viewers. So with that in mind I'll simply say that its enjoyable trash with a heart. Sure its an over long, extended TV episode with delusions of grandeur; but it knows what its doing and I can think of far worse ways to spend 100 minutes (the Saw movies spring to mind).
As a final note it's fair to say that this is no science fiction classic, like Blade Runner for example, and to be equally fair its not trying to be. But, if you enjoyed Knowing or films of that ilk I see no reason why you would not like this.
P.S. If you like the idea of a box based film, I heavily recommend you search out Primer!!!

Strangely watchable....By JAndrassy (4 reviews) , 13 Dec 2011....This is strange movie from start to end, thrilling to begin with but the dramatic music hides a lot of 'sleepy suspense' that could of been worked to bring a more consistant story line.
I find there needs to be closure on any small plots within a film however this left loop holes everywhere causing me to question the authenticity of the film!
Overall - not bad but not good either, somewhere in the middle i think!
A Good FilmBy reviewer123 (30 reviews) from Luton , 06 Dec 2011I quite liked this film, half way through it i was not sure about it but at the end of the film I remembered what I read at the beginning. As you will know by the write up, a couple receive a box, they will be given 1 million dollars if they open the box but someome somewhere will die, if they do not open the box, the box will be taken to another couple and eventually obviously someone will open the box for 1 million.
But what happens after that? The couple that open the box get curious, something they should not have done.

interesting story line but goes astrayBy a customer , 05 Dec 2011Starts off as a good film with an interesting story line.
However - it just gets random towards the middle. Felt like giving up but wanted to see what happened in the end as it does suck you in.
All in all - was not worth staying up late for!
Zzzz zzzzBy a customer , 03 Dec 2011Really dull, I wouldn't bother watching it. Felt myself itching to turn it off but felt the need to see what happened at the end, wish I never bothered now. Not many questions were answered. I highly recommend this film for someone who has trouble sleeping, felt myself nodding off at a few parts.
great storyline, shame the script turned it ridiculousBy lyndipops86 (5 reviews) , 03 Dec 2011Think the trailer looks really good? yeah well so did i and i couldn't of been more wrong! This has the basics of a great storyline, yet the way its carried out is just silly. Instead of being the intense interesting film i thought it was going to be it was pain silly and ludicrous.
