A Wes Craven offering that does for horror what Ingmar Begman did for Comedy..........When the bad boy John (Oliver Hudson) inherits an isolated house on an island, he invites his brother Matt (Eric Lively) and his girlfriend Nikki (Michelle Rodriguez) together with college friends Sara (Taryn Manning) and Noah (Hill Harper) to fly with him in his seaplane and spend a long weekend before exams begin. Little do they know a boat had landed on the other side of the island a few days previously and it's crew of two Luke and Jenny had mysteriously disappeared.(They were the lucky ones) as this film has about as much charisma as Hannibal Lecter.
Sara is attacked and bitten by what they initially think is a stray dog (funny that on an island with no other houses) however they seem to recall that on the other side of the island there was a facility for training dogs that had been shutdown to avoid a rabies outbreak. The boys head off with bow and arrows to find the dog , and come across a bloodied and dazed Luke who mumbles the classic phrase 'They don't want us here' (I know how they feel kiddo)........before being dragged off by the hungry pack of hounds for a barbecue on the beach.
It's a cat and mouse game (Pardon the Pun) as the dogs run wild even managing to chew through the line anchoring the sea plane and hop in to the cockpit as it floats away......(Mmmmmm dogs that are members of Mensa ).....and the kids are left to barricade themselves in hoping to avoid the 101 Dalmations gig..........Of course eventually sadly depleted after the dogs put a ladder up to the window climb in to the house and pick a few off (I jest but only just) they make a run for it, reaching the compound they find out that the mutts have been genetically redesigned to become a killer breed......There's only one thing for it make break for the boat they can see still tied up in the inlet........But has Captain Rotweiler and his motley mutts beaten them to the bridge?........A waste of an hour and a half when I could have been poking my eyes out with some cocktail sticks instead............
In word ........Barking.....
