Smart, successful, and sexy, Jackson Smith (Morris Chestnut), Brian Palmer (Bill Bellamy), Derrick West (D.L. Hughley) and Terry White (Shemar Moore) are the 'Brothers'--lifelong friends banded together to weather love's innate terrors and occasional triumphs in this brazenly comic yet painfully true exploration of the battle between the sexes. Amidst the career track, basketball, and bar hopping, the four friends love women, as many as possible, but a shocking revelation tests the foursome's friendship and changes their dating habits forever.
Between the fast-quipping one-liners, each of the four brothers faces a challenge that must be overcome in order to mature into full manhood. The strength of THE BROTHERS rests in the emotional variety of these challenges, which range from Brian's tragic relationship with his mother to Derrick's hysterical sexual problems with his wife. And regardless of the tone of each subplot, Hardwick's characters are well rounded, and filled out by the excellent acting of Chestnut, Hughley, and the gorgeous Gabrielle Union in the female lead.

Like Waiting to Exhale, The Wood and The Best Man before it, this sharply written film spurns cinema's usual African-American stereotypes and focuses on the universal themes of romantic commitment and the bonds of friendship. Four well-to-do young black men have to reassess their lives, loves and loyalties when one of their lifelong friends suddenly announces that he's getting married, despite having once sworn to remain single for ever. In the characters' familiar fears of commitment, there are sharp echoes of real life; these give the film potential for success with an audience beyond the African-American community it portrays.

A must see..!
If you like to watch a sensitive movie with fine looking men...this is one to watch.
The story line is great and provides a journey into the male psyche and reveals and discusses a number of commitment issues.
And did I mention the fine looking brothers....?
Look out for Tatyana Ali (Ashley from Fresh Prince) ! -

the Yummy Brothers
'The Brothers' started off very promising, especially with the likes of Morris Chestnut (.. who is adorable and sexy as usual.!!) but soon tailed off to another boring, cliche and predictable type of film.
The story followed 4 highly successful black friends who are big 'playas' and are afraid of committing to anyone expect themsleves. In the course of time, they eventually realised that the one thing that can make them complete and truly successful is the love of a woman. The film then takes its audience (if you haven't switch the DVD off by this time!!) through the whole process of self discovery and 'inner demon' fighting of these men.
To the credit of this film, the acting was good with some very funny moments .
This film is worth getting especially on a girly night in, just to drool on the yummy looking 'Brothers'!!!!! -
