  • Watch Vincent ride a motorcyle. See Vincent drive a van, urinate, shower and have sex. See Vincent in close-up, looking gloomy. Unless you're Vincent, though, there is no compelling reason to watch him.

    Hardcore meets mainstream cinema.

If Chloë Sevigny giving the director, writer and actor Vincent Gallo (Hard core) oral sex floats your boat, then you'll enjoy it. Otherwise I'd recommend you avoid it. It's another along the lines of '9 Songs'. Hardcore meets mainstream cinema. Having said that 'The Brown Bunny' is a radical film made by a courageous filmmaker.

    He's nothing if not brave.

The Brown Bunny by Vincent Gallo, unfortunately just doesn't work for me. Now i'm saying this as a big Gallo fan, music and film. But i think he'd be the first to admit it's a bold concept but it just hasn't been pulled off. I really love some of the little details during the long journeys in his van, things such as playing with the wind and the light on his hand as he drives, while not focusing on the scenery. Trying to give a cinematic representation of whats going on inside his mind possibly? But it leaves to much for you to decide yourself about his state of mind and maybe should give you a little more to go on. But saying that i'm pleased the film was made and was pleased to see it, if only to follow the directors thought and artistic patterns. And I believe he will go on to make even better things in the future. If your a fan of his work, watch it with an open mind, if not you may get somewhat bored.

Coppola was warned off casting 'fabulous' Gallo

    • 09 Jun 2009

Francis Ford Coppola defied the warnings of friends and Hollywood colleagues to cast eccentric Vincent Gallo in his new film. Actor and filmmaker Gallo has been blacklisted by a number of filmmakers and actors after clashing with co-stars and cast members on various projects. He once famously fired Winona Ryder from a movie after hiring her purely as a publicity stunt and reportedly filmed a sex scene with then-girlfriend Chloe Sevigny for controversial film The Brown Bunny. Coppola admits... Read more
