Story about a camp caretaker who gets burt to a crisp after a prank gone wrong, five years later he gets out of hospital and exats revenge at the camp.

This sounds a lot like friday the 13th, but is quite good if you like cheesy horrors frow the early 80's video nasties era. There was an earlier version of this released on DVD which was cut. This version is the FULL uncut version. Some of the effects look a bit ropey now, others are stomach churning. Lots of femaly nudity in an exploitative un politically correct way that would never be allowed in films today.

The Burning

This film when I originally saw it some years ago on video "before it was banned", was very good and more than a little gruesome, However like all films this has become dated, and does not have the "scare factor" that it once held. Although I must say that if you have not seen it then it is still worth a look.

YES, THIS IS GOOD STUFF. A CARETAKER GETS ACCIDENTLY BURNED ALIVE AND A FEW YEARS LATER COMES BACK TO GET HIS REVENGE.

A BIT UPSET WITH HAVING HIS FACE BURNED OFF THIS EX CARETAKER SLICES AND DICES UNTIL, WELL, THE HERO OF THE FILM OFFS HIM AT THE END.

THIS FILM BREAKS FROM THE NORM BY HAVING QUITE A FEW INTERESTING CHARACTERS AND A FEW SUB PLOTS WHICH ARE ONLY THERE TO MAKE THE AUDIENCE AT LEAST CARE ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS BEFORE THEY ARE BRUTALLY KILLED.

WHY DO THESE PSYCHO KILLERS ALWAYS REACT SO BADLY TO THE ACCIDENTS THEY HAVE?

JASON, FREDDY, MICHAEL MYERS ALL COME BACK FOR "REVENGE" WHEN REALLY THERE IS NO NEED. WHY NOT TALK ABOUT IT OVER A CUP OF COFFEE, COME TO SOME NEUTRAL AGREEMENT INSTEAD OF PICKING UP, BASICALLY ANYTHING HANGING AROUND AND STICKING IT THROUGH PEOPLE WHO WERENT EVEN THERE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT?

THE BURNING IS ABOVE AVERAGE, ALTHOUGH ONLY FOR HORROR FANS.

DO TEENAGERS IN AMERICA REALLY GO TO THESE SUMMER CAMPS? ID BE TERRIFIED, I MEAN, WHAT IF SOMEONE TEN YEARS EARLIER GOT THEIR PET RABBIT KILLED AND THEN JUST DECIDED TO COME BACK AND TAKE IT OUT ON YOU BY STICKING A PAIR OF GARDEN SHEARS THROUGH YOU?

THE BURNING BREAKS NEW GROUND BY HAVING OUTDOOR SHOWERS AND LUXURIOUS CABINS, RATHER THAN THE TYPICAL BUNK BEDS AND CRAMPED LIFESTYLE WE COME TO EXPECT IN THESE MOVIES.

BEST BIT: THE BURNED CARETAKER GETTING OUT OF HOSPITAL AND THE DOCTORS WORD OF ADVICE: "IT WONT BE EASY FOR YOU"

WHEN YOUR WHOLE BODY IS FRYED AND YOUR FACE MAKES FREDDY KRUGERS LOOK GOOD, I WONDER WHY NOT?

brilliant

a true horror classic i actually watched this film before it was banned and it scared the crap out of me a story of a school caretaker who gats burnt and then you know it's not going to be a normal film because any normal person with 100% burns would probably be dead but he doesn't then goes off killing people with a pair of garden shears if you like pure nasty horror hire this if you like the new type of horror(rubbish)then don't a truly brilliant film

Should have stayed banned!

The only reason I bothered with this was because it was banned many years ago & I did hear it was scarry/gory which it was,but I have seen worse though I did jump occasionly.Its all very cheaply made & people above have compared this to Friday the 13th films which probably had a higher buget,I found it funny that the 'caretaker' gets wheelchaired to the exit door of the hospital before jumping to his feet & his 1st victim is a prostitute...that didnt quite make any sense,but what the hell...rent if your desperate.

old fashioned fun

Yet again a film we all loved as teenagers. Just to realise how spoilt today’s filmgoers are spoilt in today’s market. Just good old fashoined ham acting in the tradition of hammer house of horrors but at least we can all be 15 again and wonder why the British board of censors ever banned this title?

Scream if I know what you did last Friday the 13th

A carbon copy of Friday the 13th, cliched and predictable to the nth degree. The only thing that saves it from being completly dire is the excellent gore effects by horror meistro Tom Savini.

Oh and by the way this is the uncut print with the full finger snipping, neck stabbing raft scene.

above average slasher

For what it is, the burning is an above average slasher pic.

I originally saw the cut version about 10 years ago and was desperate to see it again in all its uncut glory.

Highly unoriginal in plot, a "friday 13th" rip off, but quite stylish camera shots in parts.

Lost its scare factor now but still a reasonably gory film that in my opinion is well made.

TYPICAL 80'S LOW BUDGET HORROR

80'S HORROR ABOUT A CAMP WARDEN WHO SUFFERS 100% BURNS AT THE HANDS OF A GROUP OF HIGH SCHOOL KIDS WHEN A PRANK THEY PLAY ON HIM GOES WRONG.

ANYWAY HE GOES ON TO SURVIVE (I KNOW 100%BURNS!) AND YEARS LATER DECIDES TO GO BACK TO THE CAMP AND WREAK HIS REVENGE ON THE UNFORTUNATE KIDS WHO ARE THERE!

NOT BRILLIANT, BUT WATCHABLE... IF YOU'RE REALLY BORED!
