This film will actually make you think that the 80s were cool. Another top job by Nick Love Director of The Football Factory
Youve got to admire Nick Loves chutzpah. Following the south London macho swagger of Goodbye Charlie Bright... read more on Time Out
IF YOUR THIRTY OR OLDER AND LOVE THE 80S AND BRIT GANGSTER TYPE FILMS, THEN THIS IS FOR YOU. THE SOUND TRACK IS BRILLIANT, THE ACTING IS SUPERB AND THE PLOT IS GREAT WITH A LITTLE TWIST AT THE END. ALL IN ALL A GREAT NIGHT IN, JUST TURN UP YOUR SURROUND SOUND, CRACK OPEN A BEER AND ENJOY. I PROMISE YOU, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!
Okay this film is about as cliched as they come - Cockney wannabe gansters living the high life on the Costa Del Crime!! - but is pure entertainment nonetheless!!
You'ld have seen all the main players paired off in other films (football factory,Goodbye Charlie Bright etc..) and the chemistry works again this time. Geoff Bell (Green street) is his usual nasty, evil, scary, self - I love him!!!! and Tamar Hassan again is typed cast - cockney hardman. Dyer plays a very similar character to his Football factory role, small time criminal/yob but with a conscious, so the angst he feels every time he has to do something that he knows isn't right, is captured brillianly!
This is no Goodfellows, but it is not trying to be Goodfellows. What it is trying to be is a cliched British wannabe ganster movie, and it suceeds brillianly!!!
Don't analyse this film - treat it for what it is and enjoy!!!
