The Calling has all the classic ingredients for a horror from the start - a small island community, religious imagery, dark moody atmosphere, a family dog who barks a lot at the strange folk - oh and the odd death or three.
The film starts in a hospital with a young mothers confession to a priest and the various events that have happened to her since her wedding night. The plot has some interesting twists but borrows rather heavily from The Omen and isnt in the same league as such a classic film.
All in all it is a reasonable horror film and worth watching but wont scare your socks off.
Was OK but a bit copy cat of a few films I've previously seen. I'd say these were: Stigmata, Omen and (one other I have forgotten!). I am not sure about the character casting for the main male role either.
