    Another subterranean horror for 2005...

What is it with movie makers... just as soon as one cave horror film leaves the screens another shortly follows?

Compared to The Descent this one has less blood, but better storyline, more variety on 'monsters' but still couldn't believe it was only a 12?!?

The cave scenes themselves were brilliant, every cavern had it's own theme. Definately worth going to watch, but not if you are about to visit the Cheddar Gorge whose takings must be down this year due to the onslaught of the cave horror shockers of 2005!

    Disappointing

The action scenes in The Cave are confusing, and difficult to see what is going on.

Released around the same time as The Descent - I would advise watching that instead.

    Flappy death for the claustrophobic.

Monster flick thriller which could have been much better.

Typical 'now get out of that' scenario when a caving team becomes trapped by a rockfall and are forced to find a new way out.

Although there are a couple of good shocker moments, over-all the film fails to generate enough suspense to realy 'thrill'. No spine tingling here.

A modern 'B-Movie', ending and all.

Bear, popcorn and a sense of humour recommended.

    Terrible

Really dull and boring - thought it might get better as it went on but didn't even watch the end. Thought the Descent was bad - this was far worse.

    A very slow film

If you like mindless 'horror' that needs no acting skills, no depth and no real scares than this is for you.

I found this film incredibly slow moving from start to end, and slightly confusing in the way it chopped from one situation to another with no clear cut plan...in fact I re-wound it a few times to see if I had missed something, but I hadnt...the film maker's had!

I am sure this appeals to some (and so it should as it would be a sad world if we all liked the same things) but having said that it wasn't for me!

    Down a cave?

It may as well have been down a toilet. It probably would have been more interesting.

    Better than The Descent

In my opionion this film had a better story line and just seemed more thought out. After watchin both films, it seemed to me that the descent was rushed through to hit cinemas before The Cave - and it showed.

If you liked the Descent, I think you'll like this better. If you haven't seen either, watch this and forget about the descent.

    Macho grunting in the dark

If macho grunting in near darkness is what you look for in a film, this one is for you. The story developed at a snail's pace and the dialogue consisted largely of exclamations of 'Son of a Bitch !' and similar transatlantic expressions. Of course the semi-darkness obviates the need for proper sets and the endelssly recycled verbal cliches mean you don't have to pay that much for the script, but for a better evening's entertainment, try watching with the T.V switched off.

    tried and tested

yehyeh its all been done before but if, like me, you're quite happy to get comfy on the sofa and watch something reliable than you'll like this. it's reasonably well made, decent action, not a masterpiece but not worth knocking either.

Not as good as The Descent

When I read about this I thought it sounded a little like "The Descent", which is a good film, which is why I wanted to watch it. The film is ok a bit unrealistic mind but well worth a watch.

If you liked "The Descent", watch this!!.

It is very similar in some ways but the scaryness aspect is very different.

Ingredients for a good horror movie

Take a little of Alien, a splash of Jaws, a pinch Predator and a sprinkle of the Thing. Mix together. To that blend some reasonable special affects, some dire acting, a weak storyline and don't forget to leave out the script. Place in the DVD player and bake for 90 mins. The result; the lack of cohesion you expect of cinematic diarrhoea.

If you're in to cave movies watch The Descent.
