Syrupy schlock from perhaps the most sentimental of all Italian directors, a pointless update of King Vidor's '30s... read more on Time Out
A lush version, so little updated in mood that its tearfulness seems to have strayed from another age.
The Champ is a classic film that everyone should watch. The relationship between Billy Flynn (played by Jon Voight) and his son TJ (played by Ricky Shroder) is absolutely wonderful to watch even if your not a father or a son yourself. The young lad acts his socks off and you'll never forget his heartbreaking call of 'Champ! Champ!'. I defy anyone to watch this and remain dry eyed!
This film left me sobbing for a week when I first saw it, I love it!
Champ!!!!!
