Very goodBy Eddy555 (1 review) , 28 Jul 2006
[Highly rated reviewer]Interesting and realistic story about how a young lad can get himself into ever escalating levels of trouble. Nicely acted and set. Well worth watching as it's very thought provoking. Not the cheeriest of films mind, but then sometimes life isn't all smiles and rainbows.

The ChildBy a customer from St. Andrews , 29 Jan 2009I was expecting to enjoy this but was sorely irritated by the characters and their parts to the point that I switched it off about a third of the way into it. I just couldn't bear it any more! Pity.
Another bleak Belgian film..!By a customer from OXON , 07 Jan 2009I rented this having seen the main actor in something else. Set in a bleak industrial town on its downers, our 'hero' decides to sell his girlfriends baby for cash. Then changes his mind. Gritty and uncompromising but also quite slow and plodding.
Thought provokingBy a customer from Gloucester , 30 Dec 2008This is a good film, and portrays a situation some young couples find themselves in. Being a persistent criminal and drug addict the father only sees the child as an object - a means to providing money for a undesirable lifestyle. The mother showing maternal insticts for the child and an affection for the father. At the end of the film we question whether she has learnt from her experiences - probably not!
Pretty Boy BrunoBy a customer from Hebden Bridge , 18 Nov 2008(2005) real life type Belgian film. Bruno is a small time Jack the Lad and petty thief. Just become a father. Sonia is the mum and Jimmy the baby. Bruno thieves and cons every way he can. Very quiet baby - they nearly always are in films. Perhaps he can make some money from selling the baby for adoption. I didnt think I was going to like it at first, but it grabbed me, and then it grabbed me some more. Seedy suburban Belgium with good characterisations. A pretty boy used to getting his own way, or charming his way out of problems and responsibilities. But a child . . . .
differentBy a customer from Worthing , 28 Oct 2008there is minimal speech in this film but you do get drawn in. the level of depravity but to see the bloke has a conscience.
certainly very different to other French films i've ever seen, but a bit too artsy for me to recommend.
