after watching the first episode i was glued to it i didnt want the series to end it was gripping with witty dialogue and familiar faces. the banter between the two main leads was just terrific. a must see series.- Was this review helpful to you?

(5)The Chinese Detective
By a customer from Great Yarmouth , 27 Jun 2009Series 1 Disc 1 was interesting historically both from the perspective of East London and the manners, clothing and slower pacing of the action than more recent detective series. However I found it disappointing. The characters held so much promise that was not fulfilled, neither was the ' Chinese ' referred to...it was all sort of...or embryonic offering the promise of something different and interesting but never quite making it. Some good lines though and I did smile but not enough to see any more.- Was this review helpful to you?

Showing its age
By HA3 (40 reviews) from BATH , 29 Oct 2008After watching the first episode I ... sent the disc back. I loved this when it was on TV, but now the dialogue sounds like it's trying too hard and the acting is pretty wooden.- Was this review helpful to you?

Past It
By TRS80 (95 reviews) from Northwich , 24 Aug 2008I enjoyed watching this series on TV 20 odd years ago and thought I'd take another look.Unfortunately it hasn't worn well with time as often happens with a lot of TV programs. It will probably be of interest to those who enjoyed 'Life on Mars'.- Was this review helpful to you?
