This science fiction anthology features DOOM, together with PITCH BLACK and the sequel, THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK. PITCH BLACK is a dark, atmospheric sci-fi thriller with a sharp sense of humour, in which a spacecraft crashes on a mysterious planet, forcing the remaining survivors to seek help from a convicted murderer, Riddick. It appears that the only life form on the planet is a dangerous species of flesh-eating alien that emerges from underground when darkness appears. Before long, the abandoned passengers realise that a rare eclipse is about to immerse the planet in darkness - the hunt is on.
DOOM - In the not-so-distant future, a portal has been discovered leading from Earth to Mars, where the government operates a research base to examine the ruins of a lost civilisation. Scientists are studying it, conducting experiments they perhaps shouldn't be, and trying find out what happened. Sarge and his unit of high-tech Marines are sent in to investigate a disturbance on the base which turns out to be nothing less than an infestation of terrifying, evil, flesh-eating monsters. Based on one of the most popular video games of all time.
THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK - In this sequel to the cult sci-fi hit PITCH BLACK, Riddick is on the run from those that want the bounty on his head. He becomes caught-up in a power struggle and is singled out as the only man who can stop the evil Necromongers from taking over the Universe.

After reading the magazine reviews of this film I was a bit hesitant to see it but thought I'd make my own mind up.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised as the movie has some smashing effects, a story line that actually picks up from the first movie and carries it forward towards a hopefully coming third movie and a cast to match it all.
Sure, if you look at it critcally you can wonder why they call a planet Crematoria, but then why wouldn't they if it's a scorching hot planet with temperatures exceeding 700 degrees?
I sure wouldn't call it Snowball 3!
My best tip for viewing this movie is to not get hung up on silly names but to stack your drinks, pop your popcorn, sit back and enjoy the ride!
This is a film for the feeble-minded, for those whose aesthetic and intellectual cinematic experience is fulfilled with a series of state of the art special effects, the absence of narrative and characters who extend beyond the first dimension notwithstanding. This is an abysmal film, replete with contradictions and requiring a total suspension of disbelief. Consider that the planet on which most of the action takes place has a surface temperature of 700 degrees Celsius, a temperature that will instantly incinerate those who have the misfortune of experiencing its sunrise.
Yet the audience is expected to believe that the meagre shade offered by the shallow caves in the hills on the planets surface is sufficiently cool to sustain life. A preposterous suggestion. The kindergarten level plot is acted out with a manifest lack of enthusiasm by actors more productively employed selling ham. The cretinous denouement leaves Diesel as the head of an army whose purpose has never been made clear, whose war - indeed, whose very raison detre - has disappeared down one of the plots many black holes. If you enjoy easily digestible pap and are loath to engage your 3 functioning brain cells, this silly flick is for you. If youre sentient and belong to the higher order of mammal, stay away from this total waste of time. Its true; you cannot polish a turd.
What do we really know about the folks we meet on holiday – and why doesn’t that stop us from spilling our own secrets? Those are the questions percolating through this semi-inventive variation on a Deliverance style thriller. A honeymooning couple go hiking down a remote but beautiful Hawaiian coastal trail. Cliff is a screenwriter (Steve Zahn). Cydney (Milla Jovovich) is just happy to be there. But they’re both a bit freaked to hear news reports about the gruesome double... Read more
