Scream it from the roof tops!

Wow.
I'm a huge fan of Daniel Auteuil but mainly for his dramatic performances. This was my first real french comedy that I have watched and if they are all as good as this then I'm a convert!
A very sweet comedy about political incorrectness around a guy who pretends to be gay to keep his job.
Not slapstick humour but a couple classic moments
Auteuil is excellent and is ablely supported by Gerard Depardieu. Really enjoyed this fun little french film.
Give it a go only lasts 82 minutes which flies by.
If you liked Auitel and Depardieu try a gritty thriller called 36- Was this review helpful to you?

Briiliant Farce about Political Correctness

It's the story of a meek mannered man who is about to be fired from his job in the accounts department. As he is divorced and his teenage son finds him dull he feels that he has nothing much to live for but a stranger who has moved into the appartment next door convinces him that if he pretends to be gay his employers will not dare to sack him. What follows is a brilliant farce,that the French do so well, about the perils and pitfalls of political correctness. The two main protagonists Daniel Auteuil and Gerard Depardieu turn in terrific performances. I'm surprised that the film hasn't been bought up by Hollywood and totally ruined as was done with Le Diners des Cons.- Was this review helpful to you?

Enjoy and Laugh out Loud

Yes, some of the scenes are contrived and there was outdated references to homosexuality but those simply reflected the boorish attitude of some of the players. I liked it so much I will be buying copies for friends for their birthdays. A little gem and two brilliant French actors together again.- Was this review helpful to you?

I Know, Let's Put Them In A Comedy To Make Money!

Maybe it's me and my 'Eengleesh' sense of humour, but I found this film dated and clumsy.
It seems like Auteuil and Depardieu were spotted as a great pairing in one film and just moved from one genre (or whatever the French word is) into another just to make a few Euros.
The attitudes to gay people, women and sex were straight from 'On The Buses'. Funny in the 70's, but we've moved on and become more sophisticated in our comedy tastes since then. Just watch The Benny Hill Show to see what I mean
On l'autre main, there were some great performances and a couple of great comedy scenes (I never thought a toaster would make me laugh so much).
Worth a go, but don't expect La Cage Aux Folles (or whatever that is in French).- Was this review helpful to you?
