In this follow-up to his Oscar-nominated delight The Children of Heaven, Majid Majidi combines a fairy-tale atmosphere with sensual imagery to produce a gentle parable about the dangers of social ambition and spiritual hypocrisy. There's a Kikujiro feel to the relationship between miner Hossein Mahjub and his eight-year-old son, Mohsen Ramezani, as the rascally widower comes to reappraise his priorities after a prestigious betrothal falls through. But leaving a deeper impression is Majidi's depiction of the blind boy's sensitivity to both his family (particularly his beloved grandmother) and the natural world around him. It's simple but cinematic, moving yet inspiring, witty and subtly wise.

A simple and sometimes affecting drama of a boy who overcomes his disabilities and an adult who is blind to his own faults.

    A beautifull and extraordinary film

If you fancy a complete change to the usual dross that's churned out from Hollywood, then you can't go far wrong with this film.

Produced and filmed in Iran by producer Majid Majidi this film will leave you questioning the usual media stereotype.

A carefull and delicate insight into the world of Mohammed a blind schoolboy. A boy who can read in braille the secrets that nature has to hold.

Note: The children in this film are not actors but under the producers guidance, they perform flawlessly.

Full of natural colour and richness it's easy to understand why this film has won so many international film awards.

Take your time in watching it film as it is a bit slow but very rewarding.
