Havin long admired Robert Altman's work I found this film a major let down. I had hoped that there would a number of cameo stories centering around the daily routine of a ballet company but there was really only one and this was a turgid, non eventful, undramatic love affair involving Neve Campbell and James Franco. Malcolm McDowell was completely wasted in his role as the ballet director and his character was mere cardboard and sadly underdeveloped. It seems that Altman was more interested in the Joffee Ballet Company intercuts than in producing a terpsichorean version of 'Nashville'. The ballet sequences were admirable but I rented this to see a proper film, not a documentary.
