By a customer , 20 Jan 2013Wonderfully uplifting, moving and hilarious film about the righting of wrongs and the overcoming of hardships to celebrate beauty and harmony in music. Watched and enjoyed by our family with age-range from 16 to 88. Very strong cast and delightful Russian humour, scripted to maximise drama with clever juxtaposition of despair and comedy interwoven with sublime music to heighten emotion. Hollywood just can't make films this good
By whp8 (21 reviews) from Sturminster Newton , 31 Dec 2012Now I know the description doesn't sound instantly appealing, but this is a cracking film of the type Hollywood just couldn't make no matter how hard it tried. It is emotional without being sentimental, very funny and quirky, with a great 'underdog' plot. Thoroughly recommend it.- Was this review helpful to you?

historical confusion
By easytiger2 (2 reviews) , 12 Dec 2012This a lovely fantasy film. However, it is impossible to sack Jewish musiciaNS from Bolshoi ochestra as they all were and will be Jewish. Russians were not Nazis, I think there is a historical confusion there. Other then that quite a decent film- Was this review helpful to you?

A cracking movie.
Light hearted unlikely tale, which ultimately tugs at the heart strings.
