Great film. I haven't laughed so much in a long time. A delightful story, with some moving scenes without being sentimental. A real joy to watch- Was this review helpful to you?

Great Film
By a customer from Dorset , 09 Aug 2011Loved the film from start to finish. Tchaikovsky can do no wrong so the director was on to a winner with me from the start. Beautifully acted. ecstasy out of chaos - a must-see for all music and film lovers.- Was this review helpful to you?

Concerto by Pensioners
By wrightman (94 reviews) from Maidstone , 11 Jun 2011An old conductor sacked for playing with Jews in Communist Russia replaces the real Bolshoi orchestra with his old friends to play in Paris. He prevents the request going to the real orchestra and rounds up his old orchestra to take their place. He manages to persuade a beautiful, young Jewish violin soloist to perform with him.She is impressed by his previous fame.
This is an amusing feel-good film which is a treat for music-lovers and a welcome relief from films full of sex, violence and comic book characters.- Was this review helpful to you?

Bravo, Maestro!
By Robinski (152 reviews) from Glasgow , 24 May 2011The themes are familiar, the characters are interesting but not complex, the script is uncomplicated, the humour comfortable the story itself is straightforward, but the sum of these unremarkable parts is a truly uplifting piece of cinema.
It is a great pleasure to discover that a film like this can still exist in a cinematic landscape over-shadowed by violence, sexual objectification, product placement and the commercial imperative. Thank goodness for cinema with a good heart and a positive message, and characters motivated by kindness and artistic vision.
The finale is a heart-warming emotional crescendo. It is genuinely satisfying to see a happy outcome, and well worth the modest investment of time to experience entertainment that is life-affirming, which, sadly, cannot be said about the majority of cinema these days.- Was this review helpful to you?
