With the stage set by a contemporary spate of films starring WWE wrestlers, including SEE NO EVIL (Glen "Kane" Jacobs) and THE MARINE (John Cena), THE CONDEMNED follows suit by building a story around the massive physique and impassive demeanor of pro wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Austin plays former military agent Jack Conrad, whose top-secret mission to El Salvador went awry; the mountainous man wound up on death row in a local prison while his associates back home conveniently forgot about him. Conrad is offered a final chance at clemency by the evil entertainment tycoon Ian Breckel (Robert Mammone, THE MATRIX RELOADED), who buys up Conrad and nine other condemned men and forces them to participate in his diabolical new reality-TV show. The game is simple: the contestants are dropped on a remote island fitted with cameras, and instructed to kill or be killed over the next 30 hours. At the end of that time, the sole survivor will be awarded his freedom and a large cash prize, and the event can be viewed online for $49.95. Conrad, not a murderer by nature, is forced to defend himself against fellow contestants Saiga (Masa Yamaguchi), who is a Japanese martial artist; badass Brit McStarley (former soccer star Vinnie Jones); and the deadly Ghanaian woman Yasantwa (Emelia Jones).

Ok ten ex-cons all on death row. Dropped off on an island full of cameras.Thirty hours for one to survive and walk free. Live streaming to the net. Simple idea works really well.
If you like your movies where you don't have to think . This is the one for you. Lots of action . Great to see Stone Cold do what he is good at . Vinnie Jones is a bit annoying and you can't help yourself cheering on Austin.
Deserves to have done better in the cinema.
five stars for being what it says on the tin ....an action movie..
I actually think this is a good idea, with over crowding in the prisons maybe its the answer? Ok, maybe its a bit harsh for the wrongly convicted and whose idea was sending women in? This was always going to be a problem. The Condemned is new internet realty show involving 10 convicted, death row criminals from around the globe in a fight to the death, the prize, freedom and a little cash too. This simple idea, with the right execution could actually make for an enjoyable, no brainer, action movie, and to a certain extent this movie does just that however we could not help but pick faults with story. Firstly if you are going to hold this kind of dangerous event would you set up camp a mile or two from the criminals? Would you then include SAS trained killers and provide them with weapons? I am sure there are enough bad people out there without calling on these guys! And do not get me started on the mind changing support crew in the studio, what the hell did they expect, settling this on a hand of cards? And the poor helicopter pilot Lets not be too negative, you will spot many flaws during this film but also plenty to enjoy, its sheer simplicity for one, plenty of fast paced action and a nice element of that feel good factor as one of contestants emerges as a bit of a hero. Simple, fast paced, and quite violent. 6/10. 3 stars.
