Brilliant take on a commonly ruined concept

Of all the zombie/infection/apocolypse-type films I have seen (and there are many!) The Crazies was by FAR the most original, chilling and believable version. This type of apocolyptic movie is, and has been, soooo easily made cheap, predictable and trashy but this one stands head and shoulders above the rest, perhaps even rivalling the likes of 28 Days Later (dare I say it!!).
Particularly well acted, very well written and cleverly filmed. The build up to the crux of the film is well thought out and makes a huge impact, keeping you on the edge of your seat.
This movie made me utterly distraught at times and had real moments of total jaw-dropping shock!
Loved every minute, would recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre.
