  • For a Hammer, the pace 'creeps' along rather slowly

    [Highly rated reviewer]

That would be my only gripe about this film, though in this case its quite a major one. However, it features superb performances from its leads, with Lee looming darkly over the procedings, and Cushing only a few mussed up hairdos away from madness - check out his creepy painting! Whenever someone brings back a hideous skeleton from a remote jungle region you know its all going to end in tears, don't you? Anyway, its better scripted than most and has a nice twisty end. A quality product that merits a viewing from any Hammer fan.

  • Another HAMMER wannabe

    Rated - 3.5 stars

This is not a Hammer Film but a cheap budget film from the known Tigon stable. Like Amicus films and Tyburn films Tigon were Hammer wannabe's but never made it to the fame level that Hammer did.

There are even Hammer staff working on the film such as Roy Ashton Hammer's famous Master make-up/special effects man and of course Freddie Francis who's best work as a director was at Hammer.

Made in 1973 this british horror film is about a Victorian scientist who returns from New Guinea with a skeleton which he unwittingly transforms into a malevolent being and although a little slow is rather charming and quite enjoyable due to Lee and Cushing.

The film was directed by Freddie Francis, and stars Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and Lorna Heilbron.

  • Not bad

You have to be a fan of Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee to really get into this movie, it is another good performance from both but the really silly story line makes you laugh as much as appritiate the movie. this is what I call a 'throw away' movie. still good though.
