Nun too bad
By Ewen Robertson from London, England , 08 Oct 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Didn't get a cinematic release, this one. A shame really, as it aint half bad. Set in a religous school, it's your typical coming of age tale, but it's sweet without being sacchirine, non-stereotypical and, at times, surprisingly frank. Jodie Foster is the ostensible lead as the harsh, commited nun but it's Keiran Culkin who really shines, showing that he has the acting chops and charisma his brother sorely lacks. Worth a look.- Was this review helpful to you?

(24)Enjoyable watch, very good...
By SiSlayRD500 (132 reviews) from Solihull , 31 Jan 2012I watched this film last night for the first time, enjoyed it and thought it was very good.
A coming of age film with a few original ideas; mainly the Intertwining animation loosely telling their (the boys) story, but as superheros.
Some edgy sub-plots too which are quite thought provoking and are placed in the film nicely without being pushed in your face too much.
Well shot, well directed and overall, recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great cast
By a customer from OXON , 31 Aug 2010I really enjoyed this film, it complements '12 and holding' so rent them together for a 'coming of age' filmfest. Worth a look, it's well acted, with an unusual inclusion of comic book cartoons and has an interesting plot.- Was this review helpful to you?

Quirky indie teen film?
By Ferry41 (223 reviews) from Oxford , 23 Nov 2009Sort of a strange story which was unusual. Although it has an art house feel with the interlaced comic book action and a little bit of adult material, it feels at the end of the day like a children's film. Who is this film is aimed at?- Was this review helpful to you?

The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys
By a customer from Essex , 19 Mar 2009I liked the structure of this movie. The action is interspersed with animation associated with the characters' desires and particular plot points. Clever stuff! The movie explores what it's like to grow up under the rigid beliefs of the church. The film doesn't pull any punches and goes straight to the heart of the feelings associated with growing up. It's pacy, relevant and interesting throughout.- Was this review helpful to you?

a little cracker
By a customer from Folkestone , 09 Feb 2009Shades of 'Stand by me' made more exciting by the animation overlay.
What starts out as a typical teen movie gains an emotional depth as it goes along, with a twist and a super emotional ending. Great performances by all the young cast involved.- Was this review helpful to you?
