Same Structure As Independence Day
By Goldenboots (53 reviews) from East Grinstead, England , 09 Jun 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
This was very similar in structure to his previous blockbuster Independence Day. As in that film, all the main characters were introduced in episodic form in the first half hour, then the catastrophe happened, then came the anti climatically end play. The first half of the film when the global warming and the new ice age started were of a high standard, the second half (The rescue) pretty mundane and predictable. OK for a summer blockbuster, but after all the hype, I had expected something better.- Was this review helpful to you?

(962)Fiction not so far from reality I predict. Just look outside and tell me I am wrong!
By FRENCHIEX (85 reviews) from London , 06 Jan 2013This film when it 1st came out, seemed quite far fetched yet captivating and mindblowing effects/plot that kept you glued. Now 10 years later, in 2013, what have we learnt since? More and more tsunami, tornadoes, floods and snow everywhere in the world than ever before. Is this a clue? hell yea. Whoever wrote the screenplay nailed it. I bet my a**se that in my lifetime, something close to this film will happen. This is why we should all watch it. Keep warm and don't go out. that is the rule!:) enjoy!- Was this review helpful to you?

amazing film
By cheesekake (1283 reviews) from uk , 07 Mar 2012being a fan of disaster films I was probably a bit biased, cause i just loved this film to bits, have seen it so many times as well and still love it.
however even if your not a disaster film geek like me you'll still love the action and brilliant special effects of this film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Gotta love a bit of apocalypse
By Error404 (7 reviews) , 30 Jan 2012I have a bit of a soft spot for apocalypse films so this was always going to do well for me. It isn't as heavy on the propaganda as I expected from a global warming film and manages to gently remind us of our responsibility in a non-confrontational manner. The major plot line is mostly predictable (which isn't necessarily a criticism) with a few character paths and interactions bringing mild surprise. Manages to do well despite the minimal special effects since it keeps you interested with science (which I haven't had the chance to verify). Definitely worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?
