LOVEFiLM Review

By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM
With Golden Globes behind it, this comedy-drama starring George Clooney proves to be a rare treat in its simplicity.

A treat
By a customer , 21 May 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Surprisingly funny, and poignant, you love and hate and laugh with the characters. The daughter father relationship, brilliant!
I was really not keen on this film but it so deserves its award! never judge a film by its cover :)- Was this review helpful to you?

(201)Moving drama slightly interspersed with comedy
By Bassman71 (619 reviews) from Didsbury, England , 24 May 2013Mans wife has boating accident, in a coma, has to look after daughters, family has land to sell in Hawaii, wife has no hope, man finds out she was having an affair, goes to meet man she was having an affair with. Moving drama slightly interspersed with comedy and George Clooney still proving hes a very fine actor surrounded by a good supporting cast (Shailene Woodley is excellent) and script. Its a sad film, obviously with the subject, and some people might find it a bit doom and gloom but the setting and music are beautiful and work well to lift it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Really good
By Sepia (9 reviews) , 22 May 2013This film has all the elements you want from a good film - drama, humour, a plot that isn't obvious, well-acted believable characters that have real relationships with each other. The story was poignant and the setting great. I would recommend it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Watch it, it's something different
By a customer , 21 May 2013Funny, and something new., not worn out. The daughter-father relationship, is set out really nice. I liked Clooney and it was quite different from what he usually stars in. Watch it even if you think it's not your style!- Was this review helpful to you?

Disappointing to say the least
By Cathpot (2 reviews) , 20 May 2013Not exactly a comedy. And the numerous use of the F word spoilt it for me - unnecessary! Was still waiting for the film to get going when it ended! Rather disappointing. Would not recommend it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Island sarong in danger
By a customer , 20 May 2013A most unusual story to see George Clooney in. He is outstanding but so are many of the full cast of his family and friends ! An apparently acceptable - dare I say innocuous - set of circumstances leads to unusual meetings, even confrontations in what turns out to be ... you'll see.- Was this review helpful to you?
