[Highly rated reviewer]this series is superb. this dvd has the complete episodes from the first series of 'Detectives'. Detective Constables Bob Louis and David Briggs, demonstrate the art of being inefficient, and totally unreliable policemen.
the episodes are: What The Butler Saw, Hostage, Teed Off, Acting Constables, Studs and Strangers In Paradise.
the episode called Hostage is very funny. In this episode it incorporates, a series of beautifully crafted double entendres, that link hostage negotiation with football fandom, and is essential viewing for anyone whose team has faced giants in the FA Cup.
Teed Off, co stars Jimmy Tarbuck, as an extremely believable villain, and a most amazing (and amusing) golf trolley with a will of its own.
Studs co stars John Nettles, in the role of Jim Bergerac, which sees the hapless pair of Briggs and Louie, transported to Jersey and the Sport of Kings - Horse Racing, and a little dirty linen.
Strangers in Paradise co stars Barry Cryer and Leslie Grantham, it is very funny when Briggs and Louie have formed a band, and hide in the speaker.
well worth renting out.

The Detectives - Series 1By a customer from Stranraer , 12 Feb 2010I loved this series on TV some years ago, and this time caught some episodes I had missed. Despite the apparent improbabilty, Robert Powell and Jasper Carrot make a very good duo of bumbling detectives who somehow come out of each disaster (usually of their own making) on top. Still quite funny I thought even although the basic concept is not all that new.

BrilliantBy a customer from Northwood , 10 Dec 2009I have the original series on TV. I enjoyed watching Series 1 and now have Series 2.
Jasper Carrott is brilliant. Shame he didn't have 'Wiggy' in it.
Jasper The TecBy hamhog (6 reviews) from ayr , 24 Feb 2009As usual up to their high standard. Very funny and witty lines.
GREATBy Richard Galloway from Selby, England , 03 Sep 2008George Sewell is fantastic as the boys boss. Carrot and Powell are superb, Powell as well as being a fine serious actor makes a perfect partner for Jasper, and the good thing is they both get laughs.
