Just another below-average film, just about saved from "nul points" by good acting from the star.By roncoach (370 reviews) from suffolk , 10 Jul 2012
[Highly rated reviewer]Just another bit of junk among the sort of films that are deluging our screens more and more.
We know that Saddam was a monster and that his family were psychopaths----so it's hardly a fascinating history lesson.
And we know that this film will just try to sensationalise the facts to the limit.
I admit that the dual acting performance by the star was very good.
But , beyond that ray of light, lies the same old less-than-average film that must now represent the bulk of what is available to watch in the present era.
Forget it. Go see 'Lawrence Of Arabia' to see a top film with a factual character who also had mental problems of his own ( though, I hasten to add, not like the Iraqi monster's pyschopathic madness)

Cooper's performance makes this filmBy ScaramangaNikNak (6 reviews) from Norwich , 15 Sep 2013Putting aside the question of how factually accurate this portrayal of Uday Hussein is, this film does one thing brilliantly, it shows Cooper has it within him to be an impressive actor. I was surprised at how good he was, having only known him from Mama Mia and a few other projects, but this is a fantastic performance. It is well worth going to the extras section of the DVD and watching his interview as it gives you some idea of the transformation he makes to portray these two characters. Very few actors do 'crazy megalomaniac' well, but Cooper has definitely got it in him.
As for the film, it would probably only have got 2 stars if it hadn't been for Cooper's performance. It's brutal in places so be warned. In my opinion this film is evidence that its harder to improve an average film with a good performance than it is to damage a good film with average acting. All credit to Cooper.
Gritty factual filmBy a customer , 04 Sep 2013Gritty,violent story,I watched on the recommendation of a friend and in parts too horrific for me but this is based on a true story and the unbelievable character that was uday Hussein made it watchable.
Worth Watching!By MrsGslng (16 reviews) , 03 Sep 2013This movie makes you think:'Damn, could this be real?' I have never been interested in Saddam's family members' lives but this movie shows the utter craziness and brutality Iraqi people have faced because of all of them. I am also now thinking could this be true; maybe they are actually all alive and living in somewhere else on the other side of the world. Maybe even Osama Bin Laden is still alive... Well Dominic Cooper's acting is amazing in this movie - he definitely deserve's an award for what he had delivered as a great actor. Worth watching!
Disney this ain'tBy NOGOODBOYO (20 reviews) , 30 Jul 2013The horrific true story of the man who was forced to be the body double of one of Saddam Husseins psycho sons. This film is all the more horrific knowing that it is based on fact (there's an interview with the body double at the end). Rape, murder, torture, beatings, kidnap.....you name it and the Husseins did it with no conscience or regret. An excellent film but very dark and disturbing.
