  • Sorry Robert, Pacino's peerless!

De Niro versus Pacino? Al Pacino every time. Both extremely talented but the former does menacing the latter does utterly unnerving, NIGHTMARISH. Just compare De Niro's Louis Cyphre in Angel Heart to Pacino's John Milton in Devil's Advocate. Exactly, there is no comparison.

  • these things never end well, but are always fun to watch; faust for the nineties

A rollicking nineties classic, Pacino on the best of form, Keanu's texan drawl masking most of his major acting inadequacies, his best film, along with point beak. great script, although the ending is hit or miss. Never a dull moment and some real stand out cinematic sequences. A supernatural drama that doesn't take itself too seriously, overall this film is absolutely entertaining throughout.

Kept me on the edge of my seat. Just realised that I've never seen a bad Al Pacino film. Haven't seen a film like this for a long time where I have to watch every minute.

Brilliant movie, loved it, Charlize Theron was excellent. Very good story which kept me hooked throughout the whole film. Al Pacino was brilliant as the devil, great choice.

this is a time-old morality tale, set in contemporary new york, and spiced with some exquisite humour. its philosophical depth is complemented with eloquent and lush visual style. the writing is nuanced, greatly timed and super witty. but the highlight of the film must surely be the acting masterclass from al pacino-the satan. his devil is outrageous, sexy, clever, and scaringly human. mr reeves holds his ground bravely against such strong screen presence and acts with flair and insight. the gentlemen make the movie a feast.

for the most part, the film avoids easy solutions and fore-categorizations. it fails in the sexual desire department which is depicted here as the devil's tool back to back. psychical pleasure is demonized without mercy, and that is an unsightly intellectual shortcut.
