Just another below-average film, just about saved from "nul points" by good acting from the star.

Just another bit of junk among the sort of films that are deluging our screens more and more.
We know that Saddam was a monster and that his family were psychopaths----so it's hardly a fascinating history lesson.
And we know that this film will just try to sensationalise the facts to the limit.
I admit that the dual acting performance by the star was very good.
But , beyond that ray of light, lies the same old less-than-average film that must now represent the bulk of what is available to watch in the present era.
Forget it. Go see 'Lawrence Of Arabia' to see a top film with a factual character who also had mental problems of his own ( though, I hasten to add, not like the Iraqi monster's pyschopathic madness)- Was this review helpful to you?

(97)Jack Sparrow of Iraq
By ASDFG (8 reviews) , 19 Mar 2013Better than expected film with Dominic Cooper excellent in both roles he plays. Just can't believe that this is from the same director (Lee Tamahori) that made the awful James Bond 'Die Another Day'. At times there is a touch of Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates/Caribbean) about the way DC plays the sadistic son which makes him watchable. The fact that this is based on a true story makes it even more astonishing. Should have done better at the box office.- Was this review helpful to you?

The Devil's Double
By Kela23 (593 reviews) , 05 Mar 2013I only watched this on the recommendation of a friend and it was OK, found it very violent which I am not a big fan of but lets be honest with the subject matter it was not going to be hearts and flowers. It started off quite strongly but then I just felt it lost momentum and the ending was a bit anticlimactic for me.- Was this review helpful to you?

Dominic Cooper makes the movie
By Deejay1175 (16 reviews) , 04 Jan 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
First film I have seen with Dominic Cooper and was very impressed with his portrayal of the hedonistic, narcissistic & neurotic son, Uday Hussein and his unwilling body double. Bought to life what it was like in Iraq during the first Gulf War and was mainly based on a true story. Lots of bad language and a couple of pretty gruesome scenes but that doesn't detract from the story and some of the laughs and times when you just shake your head. Worth renting and even my partner enjoyed this which is surprising as it isn't usually her type of movie.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great film title
By RaysChoice (6 reviews) , 13 Dec 2012The Devils Double is a great film to watch, not one that I thought I would like to be honest, but worth watching. Dominic Cooper is a good actor in this chilling and sadistic film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great from Dominic Cooper
By a customer , 06 Dec 2012I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this film, but it was a good watch nonetheless. Dominic Cooper is great playing the two characters, after a while you do struggle with who is the real Hussain :) .- Was this review helpful to you?
