For anyone intimidated by Bergman's heavyweight reputation, this comedy could make an excellent entry point into his work.
The film starts in Hell, where the Devil (a wonderfully wry Stig Jarrel) finds himself troubled by a bride's chastity. Don Juan (Jarl Kulle) is dispatched to the surface to fix the problem, only to find that 20th century women aren't quite the pushovers he'd expected.
Good fun, with some serious ideas bubbling below the surface. The Tartan edition is excellent, one of their best transfers.
