The Director wears Prada
By Waterboy (34 reviews) from Hertfordshire , 21 Mar 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
I thought this was a comedy about the fashion industry, but it wasn't funny. I was dissapointed to find it was the story of a cardigan wearing size 12 becoming a hideously, yet 'fashionably' dressed 'size 0'. I laughed at the film rather than with it. The involvement of the Sex in the City team (a series I loved) has changed this from a satire of the fashionistas into a homage to designer labels.- Was this review helpful to you?

(874)Gorgeous actresses, lively storyline - and bags of humour. I loved it!
By a customer , 26 Apr 2013I rented this because Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep were in it but was very taken with Anne Hathaway and really enjoyed the fun of the film. Maybe it was a bit predictable, but the polish and quality of the stars in it carried it off to a T!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Awful film
By GordonVader (105 reviews) from Emerald City, oz , 14 Nov 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Self important ego trip for people who think fashion is the most important thing in the world... by making these films we justify nay even glorify these hideous creatures who for some reason believe that they matter more than anyone else...
It's a disgusting picture that says horrible things about our very flawed society...
We shouldn't honour these people we should ignore them... to that end don't waste your time on this film which is just a load of nonsense about some terrible woman and the message basically is that... yes she is awful, but she's a genius... She's a not a genius, she's a d*ck... if you want to watch a film about inspiring people check out Hotel Rwanda- Was this review helpful to you?

Tails off towards the end.
By a customer , 31 Aug 2012Its an almost great film but misses some vital elements. Meryl Streep is definitely excellent and all the other actors are good and believable. I think the story falls a bit flat in Paris but its definitely worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

a t-shirt and jeans film
By Avanti (36 reviews) , 30 Jun 2012There is a great scene (one of many from Streep) when Streep defends the self importance of the fashion industry - she even convinces me. This film stays believable, fun and has good heart. Heartwarming stuff after watching something else that requires participation or is intense and heavy. A soufflee film!- Was this review helpful to you?
