Sasha Baron Cohen is back and he's more shocking than ever before. Ladies and gentlemen, meet The Dictator.

[Highly rated reviewer]Sadly Cohen is unaware of the law of diminishing returns. What was once fresh and funny...is now not. Its Borat with a beard and without the humour or shock value. And he has fallen into the fish out of water rom com nonsense that other movies did eons ago. This is just tired, sad and passé. Not worth the effort for the very rare almost funny moment.

Not as good as BORAT, but much better than BRUNOBy MAXIMILIAN (190 reviews) from BURNHAM , 08 Jul 2013THE DICTATOR is not as good as BORAT, but much, much better than BRUNO. It is at least watchable and funny whereas BRUNO was just shocking and sick. The funniest scene in THE DICTATOR plays on US-Middle East paranoia in the helicopter scene, where Sacha Baron-Cohen and his friend talk in Arabic and mention 9/11 and Osama Bin Laden to two terrified American tourist passengers. The rest of the cast is under-used though. BEN KINGSLEY isnt given much to do. The DVD extras are largely irrelevant, since most of the deleted scenes have been put back into the Extended Cut version. The good thing is the film is nice and short, and in the extras, there is a funny interview with Larry King. Not bad.
Off the wall humourBy a customer , 07 Jul 2013Outrageous humour, crazy, real but surreal characters and situations, an inspired and very funny film! Only Sacha Baron Cohen could have created it Loved the play on the name of the main character Aladeen!
Gutted as Should be so much betterBy ElPedro (38 reviews) , 13 Jun 2013Absolutely gutted as I adore Ali-G & Borat & this is such an obvious & wonderful concept However the movie's dull & weak throughout Needs a remake
Really awfulBy a customer , 01 Jun 2013Such a terrible movie, completely unwatchable, awkward, and certainly not funny. Don't bother watching. Borat was funny, but this is a complete flop.
Watch if there is nothing else to watchBy Joodarben (3 reviews) , 29 May 2013Not really sure what to say about this film... Not as funny as expected and generally disappointing.. Would not recommend unless there is literally nothing else to do
