Two great performances from Giovanni Ribisi as the hapless loner and the dog as a hapless loner canine. How extraordinary the character should choose a dog so like himself !! Every character was so interesting in their own right---the womaniser--the spoiled rich girl-- the tough guy --the intellectual stripper--the 'try-not-to-get-emotionally-involved' therapist.... all wonderfully fleshed out in some great supporting performances. A truly entertaining film. Well done !! A must-see for dog-lovers !
This was the worst film I have ever viewed... in fact I switched off it was soooo bad! If you are a dog lover of enjoy romcoms don't rent this movie. If you like bad taste films which are not suitable for children, then this is right up your street!
as the tittle describes this is rubbish, one of the worst films i have seen in a long time.
just went nowhere.don`t bother, you will regret wasting valuable minutes of your life.
i`d rather watch grass grow,it`s more fun.

84 minutes of my life wasted
Scott Cann playing at making a film, doubt it would have been made if it weren not for daddy!
no plot, no interst, just rubbish

Shame - good story but crude language and unnecessary focus on main characters friend made it poorer. The dog was excellent!
Weak storyline and hopeless acting - RUBBISH !!!
I rented this with no preconceptions and still have no idea what I thought of it. The lead actor is Phobe's brother from friends, and he places a similar character, a quirky chap. He gets a dog, and everyone wants the dog, yes the dogs cute but I was lost. Is it just me????
This is more than a dog story, looks like a girly film, but more in-depth than that.
I had heard of this film and i was intrigued to see it being a fan of Giovanni Ribisi (tho ignoring that fact that he is a scientologist) and also a dog lover. The plot seemed like it should have been good. Lonely Solo (Ribisi) writes a book he ashamed of, goes into therapy and blows all of his money and is advised to get a pet to help him with his loneliness. So using that material what we should of had was a high quality film not relying on SFX to make up the shortcomings in the plot. Instead we had ropey acting from most of the cast excluding Cheadle and the dog. And the worst was Mena Suvari and her thug boyfriend Benny (Corrigan) whose characters were cliche at best. There were genuinely some moments here that could have lifted the film above subaverage but the writer/director Scott Caan's, i think was too focused on getting some skirt via his character and making himself out to be the stud of the film. He should take note from other writer/directors like Mike Binder (Reign on me) and Kevin Smith (mallrats) who have roles in their films but aren't there to try and be an all encompassing lead character, just to guide the story and characters along.
All in all i wouldn't recommend this film as i think there are stronger indie films out there which have made better use of the cast and plot.
DON'T BOTHER ! Utter crap, only watched 45 mins of it and then gave up waiting for something to happen.
